Worth knowing

Registration itself is cheap for bikes — it's CTP that dominates the bill, priced on injury risk. Renewal, transfer, late fees and permits all work exactly as they do for cars: see renewal, transfer and late fees. Shorter 3 and 6-month terms are available with the usual surcharge.

Frequently asked questions

How much is motorcycle rego in QLD?

From 1 July 2026, a motorcycle with pillion capacity totals $661.20 for 12 months: $145.60 registration, $73.00 traffic improvement fee and $442.60 CTP (Class 13).

Why is motorcycle CTP so high?

Injury claims per registered motorcycle are significantly higher than for cars, and CTP prices that risk. Solo-seat motorcycles fall in a different CTP class with different premiums.

Is scooter rego cheaper?

Scooters and mopeds registered as motorcycles follow the same structure; CTP class depends on engine size and pillion capacity, which is where small scooters can save.

Can I check a motorcycle's rego like a car?

Yes — the same free TMR rego check works for any Queensland plate, including motorcycles.
